Dear Friends,
We all know about the cowardly terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam on 22nd April 2025. In this attack one of our dear colleague Shri Samir Guha, SSO, RO Kolkata has lost his life. We the members of this Association condemn this attack in the strongest words and hope that the perpetrators of this inhuman attack will be brought to book.
Samir ji will be remembered as a very humble and joyful person with a smile in his face. His friends and all who knew him will vouch for his helpful nature and there would be none who has not been touched by his simplicity and benevolence. His family consisted of three members till he was snatched from his beloved wife and their daughter by a dastardly act of cowardice. No words are enough to describe the difficult times his daughter and wife are going through at this point of time. We as colleagues can do very little to alleviate this pain – but we can definitely try.
We as a part of SSS have moral responsibility to not only show support to this family in distress but also try to do something in this regard. I know, monetary help is something very shallow when compared to the magnitude of the tragedy the family has gone through, but we cannot deny that in this material world money is also a necessity. The Government will definitely do its bit in releasing all the dues to Sh Samir Guha’s family but since we call ourselves a greater family, we too have a duty to perform.
Hence, we appeal to all members of SSS to contribute for a fund that we propose to raise for the family of our beloved colleague, late Sri Samir Guha, Senior Statistical Officer. It is requested that all officers of SSS *may kindly contribute (preferably at least Rs.1000/-) so that a substantial amount can be handed over to his family*. This may not be considered as monetary help by any of us, rather it may be considered as humanitarian mode of consolation and promise to stand beside the family in their difficult times.
This fund *may be collected by the individual Units of the Association within their jurisdiction and then transferred to the account of the Kolkata Unit along with the list of contributors*. (The details of the account to which the amount is to be transferered will be shared later in the nexr week.) The consolidated amount would then be handed over to the family by our friends in Kolkata. It is also requested to make the contributions by 02.05.2025 so that the cheque can be handed over to the family at the earliest.
We also assure that the fund will be handled with utmost transparency and the list of contributors would also be shared with the members.
